The Monte Jade New England 2012 Annual Meeting will be an important event to attend this year. The program, “Is Implementation of Renewable Energy Sustainable In the Current Environment?” will prove to be insightful for business leaders, academics, students, and entrepreneurial thinkers alike. The meeting will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Microsoft New England Research and Development Center (NERD) in Cambridge, MA. The meeting will include presentations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities. Many professionals, academics, and students in the New England area will attend this meeting. The program will benefit our community by providing insights on the best practices of applying green technology in our homes, business buildings, and community infrastructures, as well as the use of renewable energy, such as solar and wind power. 美東南玉山科技協會第20屆年會
美東南玉山科技協會於11月10日下午在亞特蘭大華僑文教中心舉辦了其第20屆年會暨“全球雲端科技(Global Cloud Technology) ”專題講座,主題為全球雲端科技。錢平忠會長 將於2013年1月1日交接職務給任新會長鍾斌,在會中由亞特蘭大經文處高安處長監交。錢平忠致詞強調,美東南玉山科技協會邁入20年,是一個重要里程碑。年會邀請到史欽泰博士(台灣清華大學科技管理學院教授,全球玉山前任理事長,工業技術研究院前院長, 資策會前董事長)以 “Moving toward Innovation Economy”為題主講。。史欽泰表示過去30年,台灣在科技方面的發展有目共睹,但世界及科技都改變了,台灣也面臨新挑戰,台灣應該在科技方面朝著以服務為導向的軟體發展。他指出台灣的旅遊業及健保業等雲端科技服務就是很大的領域。喬治亞理工學院計算機科學學院卜甲東教授則主講雲端科技。年會中亦頒發玉山科技獎給九名傑出高中生。晚宴邀請亞特蘭大市首位華裔市議員萬斯祺(Alex Wan)擔任激勵演講人。現任全球玉山理事長鍾靜嫻 (Lilly Chung) 也參加此盛會給予很大的支持與鼓勵。

MJ Southeastern held its 20th Annual Conference at the Chinese Culture Center in Atlanta in November 10, 2012, with the theme of “Global Cloud Technology.” The transition of officer took place under the supervision of the Anna Kao, the General Director of TECO Atlanta. Bin Chung will succeed Peter Chyan as the President of the organization effectively January 1, 2013. Peter Chyan stressed that it is an important milestone for MJ Southeastern to reach its 20th anniversary. Dr. Chintay Shih (Professor at School of Technology Management of Tsing Hua University, former Chairman of Global Monte Jade Science and Technology Association, former President of ITRI, and former Chairman of III) was the keynote speaker of the conference. His topic was“Moving toward Innovation Economy.”
Chintay Shih said that Taiwan has achieved noticeable development in science and technology in the past 30 years. However, the world and technology are fast changing. Taiwan is facing new challenges and the new direction in science and technology development should be towards service-oriented software. He pointed out that tourism and the healthcare industries are two examples of great application areas of cloud IT services. Professor Calton Pu, School of Computer Science, Georgia Institute of Technology, also spoke about cloud technology. During the conference, MJ Southeastern also awarded nine outstanding high school students. Alex Wan, the first Chinese city councilor, was a motivational speaker during the dinner. Lilly Chung, the current Chair of Global Monte Jade, also participated in the event and showed her strong supports and encouragement.
